3 reasons why you should avoid using green in your logos!

Green leafs

INTRO

Cannabis and bad branding seems to be like two peas in a pod – inseparable. With the explosion of the cannabis industry, there has been a consistency with many new companies adopting a particular colour for their logos.

Some of the brand logos looks good (even great!)  but having so many logos of similar formats and colour just often kills uniqueness and individuality.

The Leaf and Colour Green

The ultimate cannabis branding cliché. With over 44% of cannabis businesses registering trademarks featuring the leaf and the colour green, there is no other advertising, marketing, and branding gaffe in cannabis!

Yes, I get it, the plant is green, and its leaves have 7 points. But that doesn’t mean that all cannabis brand logos should bear the same mark!

It is understandable to want to have a brand identity that is easily identifiable, in sync with the basics of the plant, but when it becomes the norm for over 40% of the businesses in the niche then we have an identity crisis.

Here are 3 reasons why the colour green shouldn’t be used for your cannabis business logo;

  1. You don’t want to be looking like every other company: As we have said and as we all know, the colour green is synonymous with the cannabis industry, but making it the prominent colour in your logo when what you sell is cannabis-infused artisanal coffee is a little off the mark. You could use more creative colours that sells your product whilst making your brand stand out from the competition.
  2. Better brand attention: Being seen and patronized is one of the basic reasons for advertising. Where the colour green hides you, other colours inspire curiosity. People would be more likely drawn to the difference in your brand, and that too can translate to more sales and better brand awareness.
  3. Sophistication: Branding using a more subdued colour palette, simplified geometric shapes, clean lines and elegant, modern typography often reflect a certain level of sophistication. Brand crafts that follow this pattern are often related to the luxury class, and having your logo reflect same even makes a much better statement for your business.

We are professional branding experts with extensive experience with being disruptive. Our experience will work for your business particularly in the cannabis industry where branding is premium.

We understand the business of branding and more the branding of businesses in the cannabis industry. To stand out, you will need our proven expertise to get you on the right track. Your online success is inevitable. Let’s grow your cannabis company together.
